Emaciated, pregnant and miserable; Amelia was rescued from Kempsey Pound in horrible condition. The journey from Kempsey to the Central Coast was interrupted with an emergency trip to the vet in Taree as she appeared to go into labor early. Hours later Amelia arrived into her temporary foster home and gorged on her first meal.
Amelia's journey was far from easy. Multiple vet visits before she delivered her unborn kittens were stressful, however, very necessary. Amelia went into labor early in the morning and delivered two stillborn kittens. The following was very unwell and the others that followed were very, very tiny. By day five all kittens had sadly died and Amelia was in a grave condition herself.
Unable to chew, swallow and stand up; Amelia was rushed back to the vet and placed on a heavy course of antibiotics. She wasn't expected to live, however, with syringe feeding and help to go to the bathroom, Amelia regained her strength. Amelia became a focal point for discussion as everyone followed her story, constantly asking how she was.
"I didn't think Amelia was going to pull through. Seeing a cat as sick and depressed as Amelia was heart-breaking. She couldn't lift her head, she wept and it was as if she gave up on life."
Over the course of a few months, Amelia gained trust in humans again and developed close relationships with other cats and dogs in care. She started playing with toys, sitting next to people on the couch and started to turn into a well-rounded cat.
One day we were contacted and asked if we had an adult cat who would get on with a dog. Amelia was the perfect fit, ready for adoption and in desperate need of a loving family of her own. Amelia is seen with her new best friend, Harry, on the couch.
Darling little Daisy came to us from Renbury Pound at 12 weeks old. Despite her young age, she found herself on death row, mere days away from being put to sleep. Labeled 'scared, can not handle', she was overlooked by many until she was taken into our care.
Initially very scared and timid, this little miss did put on a show of hisses, though never struck out at her carer. Slowly but surely she learnt that humans could be a source of kindness and love, and not of pain. Her coat was severely matted, but after a week of constant grooming sessions and baths, a stunningly fluffy coat was revealed.
Daisy was adopted by a mother and daughter pair, who understood her shyness and embraced her with an open heart. Their kindness was quickly repaid by Daisy, who transformed quickly under their love and guidance into a loving and playful kitten.
"She now peeps out of her hidey hole and shakes her bell when she is ready for cuddles, she has us very well trained! Thank you so much for rescuing her and letting us adopt her. She is perfect for us. Keep up the good work!" - Ally
